Each year Goulburn Valley Academy of Ballet senior students have the chance to attend the Cecchetti Ballet Residential Summer School which is held at Ormond College Melbourne University in January. Over the years many of our students have enjoyed this opportunity to mix with dance students from all over Australia and the world and to take classes lead by teachers from full time schools. This year Nicola Coats attended and thoroughly enjoyed experiences such as learning the choreography to CATS from Adrian Ricks who toured the world in that show and to learn Flamenco from a Spanish teacher.
It is also a chance to get a taste of tertiary education by staying on campus at the amazing old world Ormond College which has an atmosphere rather like Hogwarts!
I was fortunate enough to watch the awesome concert put on by the students as a culmination of their weeks work and was really impressed with what the students had achieved.
